Salmon farming
Georgia Strait Alliance
This June, leases expire on 20 open-net salmon farms located on critical wild salmon migration routes. Our salmon need them to "stay expired".
Time is ticking … the Province has until June 20 to decide whether to renew the 20 farm tenures in the Broughton Archipelago. Our wild Pacific salmon are a public treasure. They are elemental to who we are as British Columbians, and we will not let them slip away. Healthy wild salmon populations support thousands of jobs and bring us together as British Columbians.
But our salmon are in danger. Parasites and diseases from open-net salmon farms are killing off BC’s wild salmon. We need to get rid of this infection before it’s too late.
We need to turn the tide. Premier John Horgan, give our salmon a fighting chance. On June 20th, Do not renew diseased salmon farms in our waters.
We stand for wild salmon. Will you stand with us? Sign our declaration today to tell the government that it’s time to protect wild salmon!
