We are officially into busy season in Vancouver, Ucluelet and Chilliwack.
VANCOUVER - Well, the local fishing scene has been overall average with some great days and some stinker days. We are seeing good numbers of chinook at our regular haunts but some days the fish are tight lipped. We are hooking plenty of fish but still lots of undersize.
The Bell, QA, Howe Sound and Bowen are all producing, especially on the change of tides. The Hump has been very hard to fish because of the high NW winds the last few weeks. We are busy for May so we are hoping to get out to the Hump and fish it hard as it should be producing this time of year. On a side note, our associates in Nanaimo have been reporting great catches the last few weeks. This shows good numbers of chinook coming down the strait which should mean good fishing soon! I think the Gulf Islands are the place to be over the next few months!
UCLUELET - Our boats are waxed and in the water and we are off to a great start. Good catches of chinook everyday. Average size is good with lots of mid teenagers. We are not having to venture far from the Ucluelet harbour to find them. Swale rock, Cree Island and multiple spots outside of the Broken Group of islands are producing. We are expecting incredible fishing this summer and we are off to good bookings. Almost sold out for July and August but a few dates left. May and June are also amazing fishing and we still have lots of dates available. Spectacular scenery, accommodations and fishing.
FRASER RIVER - Great fishing both in the lower and upper river. We have charters available from Mission and Chilliwack as well as the amazing Fraser Canyon this year. World class sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River all year long.
