2018 fishing outlook is in and it's all good for Salmon, Halibut and Ling Cod.
SALMON - Projection from all sources are looking to be above the five year average return for both Chinook/Kings/Springs and Coho/Silvers for Nootka Sound. All the Salmon Enhancement, along with ongoing habitat rehabilitation and protection, are yielding larger run returns.
HALIBUT - The biomass continues to increase. This will produce above average size and quantities of Hali catches at Nootka.
LING COD - These tasty fish remain in the abundant category. Find a rock pile or a sharp drop off and you will find lots of LING for your fish box.
ROCK FISH - These long-lived fish remain plentiful off the majority of our local coastline. A descender device is highly recommended when fishing for Rock Fish to safely return them to the bottom when released.
