Boating is one of the most popular pastimes along the BC Coast and Pacific Northwest and before every season, we fill the pages of SunCruiser West Coast with insightful destinations, fresh trip ideas, as well as new services and attractions to make your adventure a truly unique experience.
Whether you set a course north up along the rugged BC coast or cruise south among the scenic San Juan Islands being surrounded by crystal clear open water, navigating through remote passages, anchoring in hidden bays, and enjoying all types of watersports are all the names of the game in these regions. From downrigging for salmon and taking a paddle through an inlet to just chilling on the hook for some downtime, there’s always something to do and experience - and it can be done in any given region and pretty much any time of the season.

What’s even better, there’s more of an opportunity in 2022 to enjoy this great pastime - and all of the associated activities - in Washington State following the lifting of the COVID-19 border restrictions, providing the chance to not only visit a new destination but revisit a favourite.

get your game on in the BC’s Sunshine Coast.
Communities like Blaine, Bellingham, Anacortes and Port Townsend all teem with stunning natural attractions, providing new thrills on the water and the chance to enjoy many types of services and attractions on land. While restrictions may be in place, it’s always best to visit local tourism websites and marinas or businesses to learn about modified hours and/or updated regulations.

Great paddles can be found at pretty much any coastal destination.
Of course, the waterways are just as welcoming north of the border throughout the BC Coast and you, as a Canadian boater, never have to venture too far to enjoy an isolated getaway. But if you do (and we recommend it), experiencing the number of welcoming communities is all part of enjoying BC Coast culture. Feel the island vibes of Salt Spring or cruise up along the rugged Sunshine Coast, the choices are vast and you won’t regret visiting any one of these destinations.

But navigating to any part of the Pacific Northwest and the BC Coast takes some careful planning. Researching any of the waterways is always a good start and to help you along on your trip, our 2022 edition of SunCruiser West Coast includes detailed information on the many destinations with illustrated maps, mooring ball locations/moorages, passages, obstructions, and marinas, yacht clubs, boatyards, and more. While a great reference, always use up-to-date charts and current digital navigation aids for smooth, safe travels.
