The 100th annual Falkland Stampede in May, the Enderby Arts Festival in July, and The Grindrod Garlic Festival in August – to name a few – all raise the excitement level in the region. What you may not realize are there are many weekly, local events to also check out, which are big on entertainment and provide great insight to the area.

The Sounds of Music
It doesn’t take long to realize that music is a big aspect of the Shuswap. There’s always something going on during the week (or weekends). Here are a few events to get your toe tapping:
- Wednesday on the Wharf (WOW)
In its 25th year, Wednesday on the Wharf – as the name implies – is scheduled every Wednesday night at the Marine Park in Salmon Arm from June 13 to August 29. Music genres range from jazz and rock to funk and folk. Held from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is by donation. www.salmonarmartscentre.ca
- Tuesday Night Blues Jam Session
The Blind Bay Blues Band casts its net to blues lovers every Tuesday night throughout the year at the Blind Bay Memorial Hall. Showtime is 7:00 pm. Entrance is $3.00 for Hall members and $5.00 for non-members.
- Music in the Park Summer Concert Series
Hosted at The Beach Park in Bigamous every Monday , Music in the Park can be a family affair and is held from July 9 to August 20. Show time is 6:00 p.m. and food and refreshments are available. Admission is by donation.
- Friday Nights Live in Scotch Creek
Every Friday night Scotch Creek comes alive with live music featuring different entertainers every week. Shop, dine, enjoy the local live entertainment. An event to check out.
- Blind Bay Music in the Bay Summer Series
Presented by the Arts Council for the South Shuswap, Music in the Bay is back for 2018 and is scheduled to run every Thursday evening from July 5 for nine weeks on Centennial Field in Blind Bay. Showtime is 6:30 pm.

The Adams River Salmon Society
The Adams River Salmon Society hosts Environmental Interpretive Walk-Abouts every Wednesday in the summer.
Dinner Theatre at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum
The R.J. Haney Heritage Village is celebrating 25 years of The Villains and Vittles Dinner Theatre Productions and will be held from July 4 to August 26 every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings in July and August. It’s ideal for all ages and highlights are the original musical scores with humorous story telling and great dinners
Interpretive Walk-abouts with Adam’s River Salmon Society
Learning about the environment is a great experience in the Shuswap. The Adams River Salmon Society hosts Environmental Interpretive Walk-abouts every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July, August and September, up until the 2018 Return of the spawning salmon season. Bottled water and appropriate outdoor attire is recommended.
