Darren Robinson Shuswap Tourism
A view of Sicamous, Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake from The Sicamous Lookout.
Hello Everyone,
As the BC Liberal MLA for Shuswap it is always with great pride that I talk about the wonderful tourism opportunities in our region. We have some of the most beautiful scenery and exciting outdoor activities in the province and we love sharing them with all those who visit.
People come from across the country—and the world—to spend time in the Shuswap, but in particular, we have a growing number of visitors from the province of Alberta. It is a great joy to welcome our neighbours year after year. Thank you for continuing to visit our beautiful province and supporting our local businesses—we love having you here!
It has no doubt been a difficult year for so many people and small businesses across our country. COVID-19 has changed the way we interact with one another and shifted our economy, and we will no doubt feel its ripple effects for months to come. At this point, we still don’t know how this summer will look or how the pandemic might end up changing the tourism season.
In the uncertain times ahead it will be more important than ever to lean on our neighbours as we rebuild together. We have so much in common between our two provinces and I appreciate the way that tourism has always strengthened those bonds.
If it is safe to do so this summer, I encourage those from our neighbouring province to come and explore all that the Shuswap has to offer. There is so much to see and do—and it will be a fantastic way for our provinces to continue to support each other.
To all those planning on visiting the Shuswap in the near future, we look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Greg Kyllo
MLA for Shuswap
