Malibu Boats said it has introduced new 2017 versions of its flagship M235 and Wakesetter 22VLX models.
The M235 debuted in 2016, and it has Malibu’s deepest hull and most luxurious cabin. Equipped with the company’s most powerful Monsoon engine, largest ballast capacity and full array of Integrated Surf Platform technologies, the M235 makes the largest wake and waves of any Malibu ever.

As in every Malibu, wakes and waves are easily customized to suit all ages and skill levels, the company said. For 2017, the M235 debuts an all-new onboard entertainment system by Wet Sounds. Malibu said new amps deliver higher power, and digital sound processing is custom-programmed for the M235 to ensure consistent sound setting and quality.
The builder said a new stereo puts control in the Command Center’s standard 7-inch screen, to the right of the main 12-inch screen. The system adds multi-zone volume control (interior front/rear and tower), plus a new transom remote. Signaling for the Surf Gate, the patented Malibu system that turns the wake into a big surf wave, now goes through the tower speakers, rather than a separate buzzer, when a side-to-side transition is about to occur.
For a luxurious feel in the M235, SeaDek track material is used for the Soft Grip flooring, swimboard and transom pads, Malibu said. The M235 comes standard with Malibu’s best tower, the G4, which gets even better for 2017 with side pull points for surfing and upgraded LEDs for cockpit, anchor and rear-facing lighting. The M235’s customization palette is further expanded with new gel and flake colors.

Malibu said the Wakesetter 22VLX is the newest version of one of its most successful and versatile models. The 22VLX offers room and luxury seating for 14 in a traditional bow design with easy access to the lounge area, and Malibu said it has made the 22VLX an even smarter choice by adding new amenities for 2017.
Malibu drew on what it said is its undisputed industry leadership in wakeboarding and surfing, along with more than 30 years of ski towboat expertise, to design two different hulls for the 22VLX. Choosing the Wake Plus hull sets up the 22VLX to create the absolute best wakes and waves, the builder said. The available Integrated Surf Platform includes the Power Wedge II hydrofoil to crank up the wake and the Surf Gate to turn the wake into a huge, endless surf wave.
Malibu said customers who want to enjoy world-class slalom flats, along with great surf wakes and waves, can select the Diamond hull. The builder said the 22VLX driver can use the digital Command Center, with the optional Sport Dash rotary dial, to tailor wakes and waves for any skill level. With Malibu’s Surf Band wrist remote, the rider can control the wave right from the surfboard, truly turning a body of water into a personal watersports playground.
The builder said the all-new design of its G3.5 tower features stainless-steel construction, an easy-to-use folding tower latch, powerful lights and Wet Sounds speakers. Malibu said a powerful new audio system by Wet Sounds features multi-zone volume control, a new transom remote, and onboard speakers that match the tower speaker design. Improved LED lighting on the boat and the tower round out the enhancements for 2017.
