Larson LX 160 OB
Soundings TradeOnlyToday Magazine
Following the current trend in propulsion, the Larson Boat Group has introduced two newly reconfigured outboard-powered runabouts, the LX 160 OB and the LX 185 OB, for 2018.
“The 160 OB and the 185 OB represent Larson’s core values,” Rob Parmentier, president of Larson Boats, said in a statement. “We’ve applied strategic engineering decisions and design changes to ensure that these models deliver only the things families want and need, and nothing they don’t.”
The company said the boats have all-new decks. The LX 160 OB has a 7-foot, 2-inch beam, and the LX 185 OB’s beam is 7 feet, 10 inches. Each has aft bench and bow seating with storage underneath. The 160’s cockpit is designed to be 2.5 inches deeper than the previous model, which should enhance passenger security. Additionally, Larson expanded the bow by 5 inches, thanks to a smaller splash well in the stern.
Larson says the 185 OB has 18 feet, 5 inches of on-board space to accommodate horseshoe-shaped seating in the cockpit, and an optional bow filler cushion turns the bow into a large sunpad. The captain’s and companion’s bucket seats have standard flip-up bolsters.
The 160 OB comes with a 60-hp Mercury 4-stroke outboard; the 185 OB is powered by a 115-hp Mercury.
Each boat comes standard with a full wraparound windshield and a Rockford-Fosgate stereo with USB charging and an audio port. A tow pylon and a Bimini top are available options. Each boat comes standard on a painted Shoreland’r trailer.
