September 30th is the Trump Administration's deadline for Canada to reach an agreement on a revised North American Free Trade Agreement with the United States.
The pressure is on, but some reports have Canadians unsure whether Canada and the United States can reach an agreement by the deadline. There are still some issues including the removal of a sales tax on online purchases, the Trump tariffs on steel and aluminum, and the threat of a new 25% tariff on automotive imports from Canada.
Imported U.S.-built boats are the majority of new-boat sales in Canada, so many U.S. boatbuilders export a high percentage of their annual production to Canada. However, since July 1st and after the Trump administration decided to levy tariffs on aluminum and steel imported from Canada, boat exports have been subject to a 10% Canadian tariff.
