You're invited to "A Celebration of the Salish Sea" Monday, June 8, from 6-9 pm at the Vancouver Aquarium, 845 Avison Way, Vancouver, BC
- Learn about and support the Aquarium’s and the Alliance’s work together to protect the Salish Sea
- Get a status report on the biodiversity of Howe Sound
- Enjoy a screening of the 30-minute documentary film, “The Unknown Sea”
- Hear from a scientist and conservationist about his stunning new book, The Salish Sea
- Celebrate Georgia Strait Alliance’s 25th Anniversary of protecting our marine waters
- Copies of The Salish Sea will be available for sale and signing
Doors open at 6 pm, program starts at 6:30 pm.
Following the program, there will be a reception featuring book signing, information tables, refreshments and good company. Proceeds and donations from the event will support the Georgia Strait Alliance and the Vancouver Aquarium.
Admission is $10 for the public, $8 for members of the Georgia Strait Alliance. Space is limited, so reserve early!
About World Oceans Day
In 1991, the International Centre for Ocean Development and Ocean Institute of Canada launched a planning exercise for the future of the world’s oceans. A year later, Oceans Day was launched at the NGO Global Forum as part of the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Ever since, communities around the world promote and celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8.
