Willingdon Beach Campsite
Willingdon Beach Campsite
Willingdon Beach Campsite is unrivalled on the Sunshine Coast for its spectacular setting and full amenities for camping of every type but make your reservations early so you are not disappointed in missing out on a fantastic camping experience.
There are 81 RV sites, including full and partial hookups, tenting sites, a waterpark and playground for the kids, a covered BBQ and picnic area, coin operated showers, laundry facilities and caretaker on site.
The sandy beach is popular for swimming and water sports, like paddle boarding, and there’s fishing off the pier. This summer, new, professional beach volleyball courts will open.
Next to the campsite is where Powell River holds our big summer festivals, like the BC Bike Race, Prisma on the Beach is a free concert put on by the students of the Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy. Powell River Logger Sports is a huge attraction event, there is the Canada Day celebration, the Blackberry Festival Fireworks and Arts in the Park.
A few steps away from the campsite is the Beach Hut for fast food, and mini-golf and ice cream are close by, too. The many shops, cafes, restaurants and artists of Powell River are just across the street. The forest is even closer.
Willingdon Beach Campsite celebrates Powell River’s natural setting. The Willingdon Beach Trail is a shady and cool stroll along the seashore through Powell River’s history. The trail follows an old 1910 rail bed that was used to carry logs to a dumping wharf of the Powell River Company Mill, which the town was built around. Remnants of local history are all along the trail, including forestry and First Nations artifacts, which are a reminder that all of Powell River is located on the traditional lands of the Tla’amin Nation people.
There are also the more vigorous climbs through the network of trails in Millennium Park.
Older growth trees still stand along these trails, like Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Grand Fir, Red Alder, Western Red Cedar and Broadleaf Maple, clear water creeks run under bridges and the forest floor is carpeted in ferns.
And if that isn’t enough, you have never seen sunsets like you will from Willingdon Beach wharf at the end of the breakwater or watch the most spectacular sunsets on Campsites.
Come visit us and see it all for yourself. Reserve now.
