The 8th Annual Kalamalka Classic SUP Festival goes September 2. This year’s event is a one-day soiree’ that includes the Kal Crossing Long Course, Kids Race and the 4-person Dragon SUP Showdown ... plus an after-event social at the Rail Trail Cafe.
The ‘Kal Classic’ features events for all ages, both recreational and competitive. It’s the kind of event that combines competitive spirit with the laid-back vibe of the Okanagan. Some events are just for beginners and intermediate paddlers, while others will challenge even the fittest of athletes. Bring the kids! – there’s plenty of fun for them too.
KALAMALKA CROSSING – King/Queen & Open/Recreational Age Classes - Saturday, September 2 (South to North). A scenic 10-mile trek across the full length of the lake. Who Should Enter? You, your friends and anyone who wants to experience the full wonder of Kalamalka Lake.
KEIKI HOLO: Free Kids Race and Mini-Clinic – Short course for Kids, 13 & Under. (Any board 11′ in length or shorter). Here’s a fun event for the kids – They all leave the beach at the same time and paddle around the inner buoys in shallow area for fun and prizes. Age Categories: 9 & Under, 10-11, 12-13. Who Should Enter? All kids 13 & Under, it’s FREE
CANADIAN DRAGON SUP SHOWDOWN (Teams of 4)
New Event for 2017! This is a team stand up paddle board race that will take place after the Keiki Holo Kids Race on Saturday. Paddlers will compete in teams of four on 22 ft stand up paddle boards in head-to-head races with the fastest teams advancing.
** Clarification on the Championship in Barbados ** All teams of four battling it out in the COMPETITIVE DIVISION at the Kalamalka Classic are qualified to race at the DRAGON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Paddlers must register as a team of four in one of two divisions:
- Competitive – $60(PRIZE MONEY)
- Mixed Bag – $20 (PRIZES AND FUN)
Approx Start Time: 2:00pm, Saturday September 2. Location: Kalamalka Lake Beach (West Side). The 22 ft Dragon SUP, paddle, and PFDs will all be provided as part of your registration.

EVENING SOCIAL at RAIL TRAIL CAFE - Saturday, September 2: Between 5pm-9pm. Join us for a laid-back evening around the shop (and beach) with music, food and socializing.
