PRIZES & SPONSORS
Our derby is successful because of the generous support of our sponsors. Sponsors have the option to support our derby through donations of cash, merchandise, or a combination of both. View the list of derby sponsors for our Kayak Derby.
OUR PURPOSE
Our Kayak Derby is designed to raise funds for salmon enhancement and habitat restoration within the Nootka Sound and Esperanza Inlet watersheds. Our goal is that by actively promoting and participating in these essential projects, we will bring awareness of the importance of environmental programs to the angling community. All of the net proceeds from this derby go toward the Nootka Sound Watershed Society and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
One of the many benefits of these family-friendly events is that we continue to see more young people developing a love for sport fishing and an appreciation for their environment.
NOOTKA SOUND WATERSHED SOCIETY
The NSWS is a group of local community members including First Nations representatives, biologists, sport fishermen, industry representatives, and stewards with the common goal of working to protect, restore, and enhance Pacific salmon stocks in the Nootka Sound and Esperanza Inlet watersheds.
