Clayton Mickey has always been passionate about entrepreneurship. His first taste of ownership was at his a restaurant at Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver, BC. As any restaurant owner can attest, you have to be someone who can take risks, be incredibly adaptable and able to commit himself or herself to fix problems all day long. Mickey committed himself to the position but after 3 years he found himself dreaming of a change.
At the start of 2014, he saw the listing for Easy Build. He was drawn to the fact that the company was established, with its 12-year history, and even though he had no prior experience with pre-engineered steel structures, or any construction for that matter, he thought the product line was impressive and versatile.
Soon the idea of doing something entirely different became more than a daydream, and Mickey bought the company with a partner. Mickey focused on sales, advertising, and shipping while his partner was in charge of operating the in-house on-site installations and consultations.
Easy Build provides fast and durable shelters that won't break your RV budget. The company specializes in pre-engineered steel framed structures that are erected out of galvanized steel tubing using their patented "slip-fit" system. The structures are designed for an expedited installation process with the added durability to withstand our tough winters. Additionally, the buildings are maintenance-free once it is erected, and you never have to worry about rust, rot, or termite damage. The steel frame can be anchored into any foundation and it has the ability to be disassembled and relocated with minimal material loss. As an added benefit of the product, you are able to add on to the footprint of the structure by adding onto the length of your building with ease. The structures range from 10' to 50' in width (clear span), with clearance heights starting at 8' and through 16', with the length being as long as you require.
Easy Build has structures that range from roof coverage only to fully enclosed garage packages equipped with overhead and man doors, windows, insulation options, and more. They provide a variety of sheet metal profiles and colour options to choose from to ensure structures are aesthetically pleasing and match the other buildings on customer's sites.
The company operated well for the first few years, however, in May 2017 both partners decided the company needed to be revamped and the partner left the company to pursue other opportunities.
"We still operate by offering full supply and installation services, however, we subcontract out all our on-site work through professional and qualified contractors who are familiar with the product line. In the past four years, I have grown the company to focus on both residential and commercial applications, ranging from roof-coverage only RV covers to fully-enclosed garage and warehouse packages. We are currently operating in my fifth year with the company and we have enjoyed a range of successes over the years with building projects working with Vancouver International Airport, Kinder Morgan Canada, Parkland Refining Ltd (previously Chevron Canada), British Columbia Ferry Corporation, Ocean Trailer, and many other large commercial companies," states Mickey.
If you own any type of recreational vehicle, there is an essential desire to keep them protected, well-maintained, and able to perform at any given moment. By sheltering these products, they sustain their value as a long-term asset while avoiding investing more capital into unnecessary repairs and maintenance. Easy Build Structures has a fast and durable building solution for almost any situation and the company will work with you to help solve your individual shelter requirements and ensure you have safety and security for your recreational vehicles and toys
New beginnings are exciting, and changing the way you earn a living can make a positive difference in your life, just ask Clayton Mickey. "I love my career. I have met many customers and contacts over the years through my business and at RV trade shows, and the stories and adventures that I hear about definitely make me think there could be an RV in my near future." You can bet he'll have his shelter ready when he gets his RV.
