If you’re looking to save on traveling to the States for your summer getaway this year, the Thousand Trails Camping Pass is a great option that gives you access to over 80 campgrounds across the United States and Canada. Pick one or more zones depending on where you want to camp and you also get access to discounted reservations at Encore campgrounds. From the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, to the vibrant boardwalks and ocean breezes on the Jersey Shore, there are plenty of unique locations to explore with a Thousand Trails Camping Pass. Here are a few member favourites.
Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania
Timothy Lake North & South RV Campgrounds offer beautiful, peaceful settings in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania for vacationers of all ages. These two campgrounds are located just a kilometre and half from each other and both accommodate the largest of motorhomes to the smallest of tents. Looking for a short or long-term retreat? Timothy Lake North offers spacious park model rentals for parties of all sizes. Vacationers at Timothy Lake North & South are welcome to visit each campground for weekend on-site events or for activities like the billiards room, bocce ball, and playground at Timothy Lake North, or the outdoor pool at Timothy Lake South.
Downtown Stroudsburg, which is just a few minutes from both Timothy Lake North & South campgrounds, has a variety of shops, restaurants, and theaters along Main Street and is one of the hippest places to hang out in the Poconos. Stroudsburg is also close to several golf courses and has lots of opportunities for light hiking and biking along Brodhead Creek.
The Poconos are a popular summertime destination. There are endless hiking trails and biking trails to explore, including Dingman’s Falls, an easy hike for any skill level. This hike has well maintained wooden walkways and stairs. With a little effort, your payoff of rushing waterfalls and lush green scenery is huge. There are three spectacular waterfalls within a 30-minute walk. The Delaware River in this area is a calm river that is excellent for canoe trips, kayaking, floating, and camping. There are also 11,285 acres of lakes, including Lake Wallenpaupack, which is great for fishing. Do you enjoy America’s most popular past time, NASCAR? The Pocono Raceway, which hosts the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the Axalta “We paint Winners” 400, and the IndyCar Pocono 500, is just under an hour drive from Timothy Lake North & South campgrounds.
This summer, you’ll also want to hit up the Great Tastes of Pennsylvania Food & Wine Festival, which takes place from June 25 - 26 at the Split Rock Resort. General admission for this two-day event is $50, or $30 for just one day’s admission and each ticket comes with a souvenir wine glass for tasting. Participating in the event are many of Pennsylvania’s finest wineries, plus there will be a wide selection of food and craft vendors, educational seminars, and live music.
The Audubon Wildlife Art & Craft Festival “combines entertaining and educational live wildlife shows featuring animals native to the area.” The annual event is also a fundraiser for the Northeast Pennsylvania Audubon Society and is an indoor, air-conditioned event. Last year’s wildlife shows included a demonstration that took festival-goers up close and personal with birds of prey, reptiles and snakes. There will be some of the best wildlife artists displaying their original works, plus vendors selling jewellery, botanical art, cheese, watercolour paintings, and much more. Summertime on the Jersey Shore
Bring your whole family to Lake & Shore RV & Camping Resort . This is one of Thousand Trails most unique destinations with wooded sites and great amenities. The famous Jersey Shore is located just 8 km (5mi) from the campground, but with all of the fishing, nature and hiking trails, horseshoes, billiards, and waterpark, you’ll find more excuses to hang out in the campground than to leave.
Lake & Shore RV Resort is one of the most popular in the Thousand Trails family for its amenities and proximity to the historic Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, and Atlantic City. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit. With a scorching summer sun on the East Coast, you’ll be relieved to have access to the outdoor pool, water park, and lake all summer long. Boating and fishing are also very popular activities here.
Just a 20-minute drive from Lake & Shore RV Resort is nearby Ocean City, which has a lot to offer vacationers of every age. The boardwalk is a must-see attraction that spans 4 km (2.5 mi) and serves as a by-way for biking, walking and jogging. The boardwalk is also very family-friendly and every Thursday night in July and August is “Family Night” featuring free live entertainment including music, face painting, karaoke, magicians, even a strolling barbershop quartet.
