Kootenay Rockies Tourism
The early residents of the Kootenays relied heavily on railways for travelling as well a for transporting goods. Because of the increased travel by bus or car, passenger railway travel was abandoned and today, these ‘railway lines’ have been transformed into trails. These trails range from easy to difficult and you can explore them on foot, wheel or even by ski! There are trails located in Castlegar, Cranbrook, Crescent Valley, Kaslo, Kimberley, Nakusp, Nelson, New Denver and Slocan.
