Tune Outdoor
Tune Outdoor has added a new model to its lineup with the release of the M1Lite (M1L), a lighter and more compact alternative to the flagship M1 camper.
The M1Lite is engineered for travelers who prioritize mobility and efficiency in rugged environments. At 322 pounds, it weighs 20% less than the original M1, thanks to its use of lightweight aluminum extrusions and injected composite corner brackets. Its interior volume is also about 20% smaller, and it features a 72” x 60” north-south sleeping platform. The camper is available at a base price of $8,999.
“With the M1L, we set out to capture the core benefits of the M1 in a more compact, accessible form—without compromising on quality or experience,” said Tune Outdoor co-founder and president Sean Kepler. “It’s designed for people who want to move faster, travel lighter, and spend less, so they can adventure more.”
The release comes amid growth in the outdoor recreation and overlanding markets. The 2025 Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Survey reports more than 12 million Americans now participate in overlanding, up from 8 million in 2024. Rising demand for dispersed camping, along with increased midsize truck sales, has made lightweight pop-up campers more appealing to younger buyers and urban residents.
Designed with versatility in mind, the M1Lite accommodates gear for backpacking, biking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and extended off-grid travel. Its reduced weight supports fuel efficiency and improves handling in challenging terrain. Compared with wedge-style campers, the M1Lite’s pop-up canopy and awning doors provide additional usable space.
“We found that some customers love the M1 but it offered more room than they truly needed and also came at a higher price, often leading them to consider wedge-style alternatives,” said co-founder and chief product officer Kristian Arnold. “The M1L is smartly designed, highly engineered, and competitively priced, and we see it quickly becoming a standout choice for customers in this segment.”
Deposits of $500, fully refundable, are now being accepted through the Tune Outdoor website. Installations will begin in December 2025.
