Palomino RV
The River Ranch 390 RL. Even though it is a fifth wheel, it has a convenient, one-level interior design like a travel trailer.

Sitting in our 2017 Montana High Country fifth wheel looking at the dark wood cabinets, I began thinking about how nice it would be to have a shiny new camper with white cabinets and some of the latest cool features.
As the industry is constantly devising new ways to make life easier on the road, I find myself wondering if RV experiences would be better with a new model. Manufacturers commonly follow residential renovation/living trends with spacious interior layouts, lighting options, and other details to provide a modern, home-style feel on the road. The thrill of camping may not change with these appointments, but I know I would appreciate the lighter white wood cabinets that are on many new trailers.
I recently had a chance to look at some of the 2022 models from select manufacturers and many designs still stand out in my mind. In my opinion, the new River Ranch fifth wheel from Palomino RV introduced some interesting concepts. Even though my family and I are only weekend campers, storage is important to us. Seeing the thoughtful space for cumbersome camping gear in the River Ranch, which is similar to what is found on larger Class A motorhomes, was appealing.
Although the River Ranch is a fifth wheel, it has a one-level design like a travel trailer. This results in a lower ceiling height but also means there is less of an area to cool with the A/C, which is a thoughtful concept as well.

The clean, spacious and bright layout of the Entrada Class C.
The River Ranch has two floor plans (the 390 RL and 392 MB). While I can’t decide which model I like better, some nice appointments in this series include a large kitchen island with ample space for essentials, double sinks (the 390 RL), a king bed, residential refrigerator, and vast basement storage.
Another impressive RV I like is from East to West. They are headed into new territory for 2022 with the Entrada class C. It has only two floor plans, but each has specific details and features. I have never considered a class C, but this model made me wonder if it would make weekend camping trips more convenient.
A trend I think should be mentioned is the number of RVers that are buying pre-owned RVs, and then complete some DIY renos. With the news about production delays through to 2022, searching the pre-owned RV market has never been more popular. I have heard everything from people buying van conversions to purchasing older travel trailers and updating them. Either way, this trend will be around for a while as some good deals can be found with enough savings to convert it to your perfect RV.
It’s hard to ignore the fact that manufacturers are succeeding in making time on the road more enjoyable. From RVs with more storage to those with off-road capabilities, expect to see a range of appealing designs among the new trailers and motorhomes, including lighter, white wood cabinets.
Happy Camping!
