Leisure Travel Vans
Words by Perry Mack
If you’ve been following the van life scene for a while, you know that the "perfect" rig usually involves a compromise. You either get a rugged, go-anywhere beast that feels like a tin can inside, or a luxury cruiser that’s terrified of a gravel road. Well, Leisure Travel Vans (LTV) just dropped something at the Florida RV SuperShow that might finally bridge that gap.
Meet the Unity TBX (and its beefier sibling, the TB4X). Built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500, it’s LTV’s first real foray into factory-lifted, All-Wheel Drive (AWD) territory. It’s a "best-of-both-worlds" situation: the sleek, high-end craftsmanship we expect from LTV, but with a "let's see where this dirt road goes" attitude.
The "Gear Head" Dream: A Real Garage
Leisure Travel Vans
The biggest news for those of us who travel with more than just a suitcase? The pass-through gear garage. This is a first for the Unity line. We’re talking 61 cubic feet of waterproof storage space. You can finally slide your bikes, inflatable kayaks, or surfboards into the back without tripping over them in the kitchen. It’s even got 12V and 120V outlets inside, so your e-bikes can charge while you're driving to the next trailhead.
Off-Grid Independence
If you’re like me and "camping" means getting as far away from a literal power outlet as possible, the tech specs here are impressive. LTV has beefed up the utilities to support serious boondocking:
- Power: Up to 540Ah of lithium batteries paired with a 440-watt solar array.
- Charging: A high-output alternator means you’re topping off those batteries just by driving.
- Climate: They’ve included the Truma Aventa Eco AC, which has soft-start tech—meaning you can actually run your air conditioning off your batteries in the middle of nowhere.
- Capacity: With 40-gallon fresh water and 35-gallon grey tanks, you can stay hidden in the woods a lot longer before needing a dump station.

Inside, the TBX handles the "four people in a small space" challenge brilliantly. The standout feature is the new Swivel Lounge. The seats face forward while you're cruising (safety first!), but once you’ve parked, they pivot 90 degrees to create a massive dining and lounging area.
The layout features twin beds in the rear and a surprisingly roomy three-piece dry bath in the middle. With two flexible Lagun tables, you can easily flip the space from a remote workspace to a four-person dinner party in about thirty seconds.
Rugged Meets Refined
Visually, the TBX isn't your grandfather’s RV. If you opt for the TB4X, you get matte-black fender flares, all-terrain tires, and that factory Mercedes lift that gives it an assertive, "don't mess with me" stance. Inside, the galley is all modern tech: a two-burner induction cooktop and a 12V compressor fridge, all controlled by the Firefly Multiplex system (yes, there's an app for your lights and climate).
The Bottom Line: Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a full-time nomad, the Unity TBX feels like LTV finally listened to the crowd that wants to tow 5,000 lbs, carry all the toys, and still sleep on a high-end mattress.
It’s a bold new chapter for LTV, and honestly? It makes the road ahead look a lot more exciting.
