Thor Industries Inc. subsidiary Airstream Inc. showcased the Globetrotter 27FB at the Louisville Show, representing the first model in a new line of travel travelers.
If the Globetrotter name sounds familiar, it’s because the Jackson Center, Ohio-based manufacturer has used it in the past and, according to Vice President of Sales and Marketing Justin Humphreys, resurrecting the name made sense since the company turned to Astheimer, a British firm, to assist in the line’s interior design.
“Since the shell doesn’t change a whole lot, we wanted to have a new set of eyes look at a similar space that we’ve been designing in for years,” Humphreys said. “Their whole design cue was for it to be very flowing. So the furniture all wraps around each end, and around the bed and the dinettes, it’s very flowing. Even in the cabinetry you’ll see a lot of flow to the design. Very simple and very modern.”
Available in four different color schemes with a base MSRP of $99,900, the 27FB features either a north-south queen bed or split twin beds up front, with a dinette in the rear. The streetside dinette bench converts into a 63-inch lounge/bed and is situated alongside a 6.7-cubic-foot refrigerator, wardrobe and shower. Along the curbside wall, the toilet and sink are opposite the shower, while the well-appointed galley just off the entry door completes the configuration.
