A dry flush toilet is different from typical home and RV toilets, which use water to flush waste into a city sewer, septic tank, or black water tank in an RV. As the name suggests, a dry toilet doesn't use water to dispose of waste. There are various types, including composting, venturi, microbial, solar, and chemical toilets. While these toilets offer benefits like reduced water consumption and lower operating costs (no need for sewer or septic connections), they also have disadvantages such as increased odor, less convenience, safety hazards if not maintained properly, and higher initial costs.
Many dry toilets require permanent installation, making them unsuitable for activities like camping, RVing, boating, and tailgating. Our search for the perfect portable lavatory led us to the Laveo by Dry Flush. This toilet is highly portable, compact, simple to use, requires no chemicals, and is odour-free. The Laveo is easy to install and maintain, with no plumbing needed, no liquids, no cartridge to empty, and no composting required.

The mylar cartridge is twisted when flushed to create a hygienically sealed, odor-free bundle. Avoid throwing in sharp objects!

The black water conversion kit screws into the floor over the old toilet flange and securely mounts the Laveo. Skip dump station visits after this upgrade.

A fully charged battery has enough power for roughly 300 flushes and will stay charged for a few months.
It uses a disposable mylar tube cartridge system. After use, the toilet twists the mylar tube to seal in the waste and pulls the material down to create a new bowl that’s ready for the next use. For urine, Pee Powder is added to solidify the liquid. Each cartridge provides roughly 15 'flushes', after which you dispose of the mylar tube in its enclosed trash bag as you would a doggy or diaper bag.
This dry, odor-free, spill-free compact toilet is perfect for off-grid living, such as tent camping (ground or rooftop tents), RVs (especially van life), tiny homes, trucking, boating, tailgating, or drive-in festivals and events. It helps avoid the rows of inconveniently located porta-potties with their lineups, and/or lack of hygiene.

When the flaps are closed, the annex on our rooftop tent makes a great Laveo restroom. Just needs an 'Occupied' sign.
There are several power options available depending on your needs: a battery (and battery charger) for maximum portability, a 12V DC accessory plug (aka cigarette lighter), or a 110V AC wall plug.
If you plan to install it in a moving craft like a boat, plane, or vehicle, an optional Quick Floor Mount Kit is available. There are also lift kits with a handrail and wide base to raise the toilet by 3 inches, making it easier for those who need extra support standing up.
Additionally, there's a kit that allows you to install the Laveo over an existing toilet floor flange, avoiding the use of a black water tank. This helps you avoid dump stations or replacing a damaged black water tank. It's also ideal for van or bus conversions.
