Nevada’s Clark County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a request from Mohave State Bank for a rezone of 22.1 acres, adjacent to Laughlin Bay Marina, to permit the development of a recreational vehicle park.
According to a Laughlin Times report, plans include a 222-space RV park to be built in two phases: The first will be constructed in the interior area of the property near the clubhouse, and the second will include RV sites up to the Casino Drive frontage. The sole vehicle entry and exit point will be the existing entrance to Laughlin Bay Marina, although emergency access will be available from Casino Drive.
The site had once been approved for 500-plus condominium units. However, that project failed and the land is now owned by Mohave State Bank.
Each RV space will measure 30 feet by 65 feet and contain full RV hookups, and the interior drives in the park will be 30 feet wide. Three stand-alone restroom facilities will be constructed, and the existing clubhouse – which will serve as the park’s check-in office – will house laundry, bathroom and shower facilities.
Approval of the zone change request was conditioned upon Callagy’s commencement of the project within one year. It will take that long to secure the building permits, stated Kaempfer, due to the possibility that the Army Corps of Engineers will need to be involved.
