Daimler Trucks North America is recalling 4,944 recreational vehicle chassis in the U.S. to fix a braking problem that could increase the risk of an injury or crash.
Trucks.com reported that the recall includes 2012-2016 FCCC XCL, XCM, XCP, and XCR motorhome chassis manufactured between Jan. 23, 2012, and July 23, 2015.
A defective throttle pedal sensor could reduce the vehicle’s braking capacity. If this happens, the vehicle will be more difficult to slow down which can increase the risk of a crash.
“On the suspect chassis, when the throttle pedal is released, the associated pedal sensor may not return to zero, causing the engine brake to potentially not activate as expected,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
There are no reported crashes or injuries related to this defect. Dealers will correct the issue by replacing the throttle pedal.
