BC Interior RV Show an RV'ers Success
BC Interior RV Show
“So many RVs. They're RVerywhere!” was again the best quote that was heard during the 5th annual BC Interior RV Show this past weekend. The event hosted almost 10,000 visitors through the South Okanagan Events Centre and the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre entrances. Guests purchased a $5 wristband that was good for the whole week with the net proceeds being donated to charity.
As a result of the success of the event and the overwhelming community support, the directors of the society are thrilled with 1,150 pounds of food donations received for The Salvation Army Community Food Bank. This brings the five year collection amount up over 11,500 lbs of non-perishable food!!!
The event had something for everyone – whether you are a seasoned RV'r or a young family just looking at getting into the RV lifestyle. A family could invest in their first RV unit for less than $85/bi-weekly and have a self-contained 'traveling home' to build memories for a lifetime. There were hundreds of RV units to view in the over 80,000 sq. ft. of indoor space plus another 25,000 sq. ft. outdoors. For possibly a one-time opportunity, the show hosted the Alexa's Bus Mobile Road Safety Unit designed to provide all police forces in BC a platform for alcohol and drug-impaired driving investigations - Cst. Dave Fee provide ongoing tours.
In the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre North Lobby there was a very cool dragster brought to the show by the Okanagan College Motor Vehicle Trades. In the South Lobby, Murray Buick GMC profiled vehicles that had the capacity to tow and be towed. Plus in the same building, there were hourly RV Lifestyle educational sessions, tourism associations, RV resort properties, financial and insurance suppliers, speciality RV parts & supplies, trucks and cars plus a vintage Tear Drop Trailer from Okanagan College. Newcomer exhibitors included Canadian Tire with their selection of camping gear and kayaks; Ocean Sales hosted a number of booths that made the RV lifestyle even better with massage chairs, soup cookers, collapsible storage containers and so much more; Mattress Mattress Inc. was on site with the newest and best mattresses for your RV and you may have even seen Bill from Strida Canada spinning around the trade show floor on one of his foldable bikes! What an awesome and busy three days!
The mainstay RV Dealers: Midtown RV, Country RV – Kelowna, Summerland RV Centre, Leisureland RV, OConnor RV, Richards RV and Country Camping Leisure Products, were joined by newcomers “Armadillo Trailer Mfg” – their little gems were an awesome hit at the show – and they will be back with an even bigger display in 2017!
The 2017 event dates will be April 21-23. For more information on the event, please visit the website: www.bcinteriorrvshow.ca.
