The 2025 RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas, published by the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO), is now available. Travelers can access it both in print and online here: TexasCampgrounds.com.
This year’s theme for the guide is “You’re Always at Home in Texas.”
“The guide is a great resource for people taking shorter trips, for Texans moving around Texas, and for people moving to Texas,” said Brian Schaeffer, TACO’s executive director and CEO.
The guide not only features detailed information about campgrounds, RV parks, and glamping resorts but also dedicates specific sections to showcasing private parks located in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
“We designed the guide as a travel planning resource that not only includes detailed descriptions of great places to camp, but information on nearby attractions,” Schaeffer said.
The guide offers details about chambers of commerce and convention and visitors’ bureaus, which serve as valuable resources for camping and RV enthusiasts seeking information on nearby attractions, yearly festivals, and other local events.
While the annual directory is available in digital format, TACO’s print distribution includes 250,000 users of the 2025 RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas. Distribution includes RV shows across Texas, like the Houston RV Show, Feb. 12-16, the largest RV show in Texas, and the Austin RV Expo, Feb. 13-16. Anderson’s Brochure Distribution Service will also distribute the guide at 25 other RV shows across the US and Canada.
“Our biggest sources of distribution are the Texas Information Centers, the Points of Entry into Texas,” Schaeffer said, adding that TACO-member parks are also passing out the guides along with chambers of commerce and convention & visitors’ bureaus, which remain in high demand in print format.
“People like to hang on to our printed directories and use them again and again to plan their trips because they’re packed with ideas on fun things to see and do in every region of Texas,” Schaeffer said.
Examples of attractions featured in the 2025 guide include:
— Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo: This restaurant is famous for its 72-ounce steaks, which it will serve free of charge. There’s just one catch: You must eat it with all the trimmings in less than an hour. Located along historic Route 66, now I-40, the Big Texan Steak Ranch has a huge menu ranging from steaks, burgers and chicken to “Mountain Oysters.”
— Caddo Mounds State Historic Site near Alto: This is a prehistoric village and ceremonial center located on the original Camino Real de los Tejas, the main route used for Spanish colonization of Texas and northwest Louisiana.
— East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore: This museum offers documents the discovery of oil in East Texas in 1930 and 1931 while noting the important role that Texas oil producers played in providing stable petroleum supplies needed to win World War II.
—The George Ranch in Richmond: This is a 200-year-old, 20,000-acre ranch that features historic home tours, costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, cattle working and blacksmithing demonstrations.
— Museum of the American G.I. in College Station: This museum is home to one of the nation’s finest collections of restored, running WWI, WWII and later era military vehicles including a WWI FT-17 tank, WWII Sherman tanks, M18 Hellcats and various other tanks as well as historic uniforms and equipment used by the American Serviceman and women.
— Painted Churches of Schulenberg: The Painted Churches are located in the communities of Dubina, High Hill, Moravia, St. John, and Ammannsville. They appear unassuming as you approach them, but as you enter the front doors prepare to have your breath taken away by the incredible beauty found inside. The churches date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s when Czech and German immigrants came to Texas to start a new life.
— Sam Houston Memorial Museum and Republic of Texas Presidential Library: The Sam Houston Memorial Museum is an educational institution that teaches about the exciting history of Texas and the life of Sam Houston and his family through a variety of programs and exhibits. Houston was a lawyer and politician who led the Texas Revolution of 1834-36, securing Texas’s independence from Mexico. Houston later served as president of the Republic of Texas (1836–38; 1841–44) and played a key role helping Texas to become a U.S. state in 1845. The complex is situated on 15 acres of the original farm of over 200 acres owned by General Sam Houston and his family from 1847-1858.
— Texas Broadcast Museum in Kilgore: This museum contains one of the largest collections of television and radio broadcast equipment in the country. It’s holdings include a 1949 Dumont Telecruiser, which was used by news crews to report the Kennedy assassination in 1963, as well as one of ESPN’s first TV mobile units, which was used to televise Ronald Reagan’s first inauguration speech.
In addition to highlighting museums, festivals, and scenic natural attractions in each region of Texas, the guide includes listings of more than 400 campgrounds, RV parks and resorts, complete with locator maps, listings of park amenities, websites and contact information for each park. The directory also features a Texas Saver Card, which provides 10 percent discounts on nightly stays at participating parks.
Designed by Texas Advertising, the 2025 RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas features display ads from RV resort chains, such as Quality RV Resorts as well as campground and RV resort networks with parks across the country, such as
Encore and Thousand Trails, Great Escapes RV Resorts, Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA), and Wilder RV Resorts.
The guide is supported by advertising from prominent campgrounds, RV resorts and RV dealers in Texas, such as
PPL Motorhomes, the largest RV consignment dealer in the country, and Platinum Cottages, a prominent park model RV manufacturer whose units are widely used as rental accommodations in Texas campgrounds and RV resorts.
