Nelson's RV's
Many RV owners love to set out on a long road trip across a thousands miles or more – but that doesn’t mean you have to commit to that kind of a trip in order to have fun in your RV. There is a lot to like about a short RV trip, especially when you only have a couple days to work with. Most people live within a short drive of some great RV campgrounds, so consider keeping your drive time to a minimum while enjoying plenty of time at the campsite relaxing with family and friends.
Cost Savings
One of the first things you will appreciate about a short RV trip is the savings on gas costs. Obviously, the shorter the drive to the campsite, the less money you will need to spend on fuel. Considering the fact that gas prices rise in the summer – during the busy season for RV travelers – you will appreciate being able to make fewer stops at the pump along the way. Also, limiting the number of miles that you put on your rig will reduce the frequency with which you need to take it in for service, meaning you will save even more money in the long run.
Get More Use from Your Investment
If you decide to buy an RV, you want to make sure you are going to use it often enough to justify the cost. Most people aren’t able to carve out very many week-long stretches within the course of a calendar year to take long vacations, so getting out on quick weekend getaways is a great option to maximize the return on your investment. If you leave on a Friday evening and return Sunday night you might not even need to take any time off of work at all.
Fun for Kids
Depending on the age and interests of your kids, they may have varying degrees of excitement when it comes to taking an RV vacation. Taking short vacations is a great way to help them enjoy RV travel without feeling like they have to be away from their friends or their familiar life at home for too long. As they get older, the kids will likely be more and more interested in longer trips to more exciting destinations – start them slow and hopefully their passion will grow as they do.
Easy Packing
Packing up for a trip that is going to last a week or longer can be a major hassle, but that won’t be a concern when you plan on taking just a short two or three-day trip. You will only need to pack a few clothing options and a small amount of food in order to be ready to go. This factor pays off when you get back home as well, as there won’t be nearly as much to clean up in the RV when you finish a short trip.
