Breathing is life. We can survive no more than a month in starvation mode and only a few days without water, but a human body needs air virtually every moment of life. We can hold out only a few minutes without the proper supply of oxygen into the organism. And most importantly, fresh air is harmless in any amounts! It only benefits our health, improving the work of the brain, nervous, digestive and cardiovascular systems.
The positive impact of a fresh air
In the conditions of a modern rhythm of life, constant rush, stress, tension, crisis, we often forget about the benefits that fresh air brings. And only getting to a camping or a beach at the weekend, we remember it and enjoy pure, natural oxygen! Meanwhile, each person needs fresh air almost from birth. Remember the young mothers who walk around the park with their children every day? The duration of their walks is about 2-3 hours. Adults should spend the same period of time outdoors. But do many of us follow this recommendation?
As a rule, our daily walks are limited to going to the garage or to the store - for food, household appliances or something else. Young people, in addition, even have dates, spend time in cafes, nightclubs or restaurants. At the weekends, parents try to get out on the street with their children, but the lack of time and desire often spoils such plans. Thus, far not everyone spends 3 hours a day outdoors.
It is not surprising that, subsequently, we suffer from lung and vascular diseases, fatigue, irritability, and heart failure. After all, the benefits of clean air for human body are essentially invaluable. Unfortunately, most of us understand it only at old age, when it is too late to restore vital strength.
Fresh air is good because it has a positive impact on the body in the complex - improves the performance of several systems at once. First of all, it comes to the aid of the brain, the psyche, and the nervous system - strengthens memory, relieves absent-mindedness and negative feelings. The receipt of the necessary volume of oxygen by the body also positively affects the activity of the heart, lungs, gastrointestinal tract and blood vessels. Life expectancy increases, many diseases vanish.
The most accessible, effective and convenient way of oxygen saturation of the body is daily walking. It is best to visit the places of green plantations, for example, a forest or a park. Such pastime will restore the vital forces, the required level of energy and vigor in the shortest period of time.
Fresh air and walks
The high efficiency of walks was confirmed experimentally by American scientists. The researchers decided to find out what affects the work of the brain better - walking or doing stretching exercises. The age of the subjects was 50-80 years. People were divided into two groups. The first group was supposed to walk in the fresh air 3 times a week, from 30 to 45 minutes, the second - to do stretching exercises for muscles according to exactly the same schedule.
A year has passed. With the help of modern diagnostic tools, scientists compared the volume of the brain of people from each group. It turned out that the brain of "pedestrians" grew in volume by as much as 2%. And most of all, this trend concerned the parts of the brain responsible for memory and activity planning. In the second group, the brain, on the contrary, decreased by 1.5%.
It can be concluded that daily walks prevent the aging of the brain. The optimal result may be achieved if they are combined with exercises for the development of memory, logical thinking, oral counting, speed reading, and so on.
How to take walks?
Walking in the woods or, at least, in the park not only allows to fully enjoy the fresh air. It is also a movement, i.e. strengthening legs, development of muscles, finally, acquaintance and communication with nature, its unique beauty, and picturesqueness!
If you do not know how to allocate time for walking, use the following tips:
- Go on foot to the work/university and back, at least part of the way. Do not use transport to get to the shops and cafes. Lunch breaks may be used for walking in the park.
- Meet with friends, spend time with your significant other outdoors. On weekends, go out of town more often.
- Another good way to spend a weekend is traveling. A tourist trip to a neighboring village or city is not only a "dose" of an ecological component so necessary to the body but also new impressions, interesting acquaintances and a lot of positive emotions!
- In order not to get bored while walking on weekdays, find a suitable street occupation or a hobby. For example, buy a dog or a photo camera.
- Dose the load. Start with short walks. The interval of 15 minutes will be enough at the beginning. Gradually, this time can be brought to 1 hour. And then, you can walk in the morning and in the evening, for a total of 2-3 hours a day.
Try to turn such a leisure into a habit. Noticeable results can be achieved only if you create a system of caring for your body. It is known that no one dies from one cigarette or a glass of wine, but systematic alcoholism, tobacco dependence can significantly damage health. Similarly, one walk does not solve anything. Do not expect that your performance will dramatically increase if you once refused to travel around the city by bus.
Of course, there are unforeseen situations in life. A businessman or a graduate student can say that he has too many urgent matters. But even if the deadline in the office is close, or you need to submit a ready academic paper to the teacher tomorrow, anyway, find time for a walk.
Work on an important project is unlikely to be effective if you feel tired. There is a great risk of making unforgivable mistakes due to inattention and, if to look more broadly, losing a taste for life. After all, a person cannot be happy if he forces himself to do something at the limit of possibilities. It's better to postpone the deadline, to seek term paper writing help and restore energy reserves outdoors.
