Nitto Chevy Highlander

SEMA 2017 had eye candy for all disciplines and tastes in the automotive arena as builders and designers all aimed for a target audience. Editor Irons prefers his trucks useful, built like a Sherman tank, and with enough power to boarder the ridiculous. Editor Mack likes cup holders, blow your hair back sound systems, and self-parking amenities to make up for driver skill. Director of sales Tansem prefers a GPS system with all the local “Gentleman’s Clubs” preprogrammed and multiple mirrors to check his hair in. Seeing as Irons was the only one picking winners, let see what could be found this year.

This 1972 Chevrolet K50 crew cab was placed front and center of Nitto tires booth. An anvil tough Cummins 12-valve resides under the massive hood and is propped up by a custom chassis by Randal Robertson. The Highlander spec interior is a comfy place to row the 5 speed NV4500 as it sends power to a set of 40’s to round out this behemoth.

Every time we walked by the Starcraft booth and caught a glimpse of the wicked chase truck, we contemplated how much trouble we would be in with the better half if we rolled into the driveway with it. “But honey, it has four seats?” would likely be our last words. The stout cage and race bred trailing arm suspension showed the beautiful craftsmanship and engineering involved to create a Baja capable rig such as this.

From the creative minds at Ford HQ we are given this eye-catching Super-Duty single cab in a 126” wheelbase perched on 42’s. The factory 6.7L Power Stroke diesel under the hood, and in a custom chassis to handle the power, we can only hope to see a rig like this available at a dealer near us.
