One of California’s most iconic OHV events, the Sierra Trek is back for it's 53rd year. Originally a weekend Jeep trip and BBQ when it began in 1967, the Trek today has grown to feature a dozen guided four-wheel drive and ATV/UTV trips ranging from historic tours through the Gold Country to a traverse of the iconic Fordyce Creek Trail.
“Come for the trails; stay for the party.”
Each year, volunteer clubs reconstruct Summit City, an 1860s mining camp, replete with the Wild West Saloon, chuck-wagon-style kitchen, dance hall, and two nights of live music. More contemporary attractions include a manufacturer midway with dozens of vendors, vehicle show, RC races, and kids’ games. Basecamp is located on the alpine shores of Meadow Lake, and when participants are not on a trail ride they can explore its shores in a canoe, cast a trout line, or soak in the sun.
When the sun goes down and the band takes the stage, trekkers belly up to the saloon’s old wooded bar, share yarns around the bonfire, and kick up their heels on the dance floor. On Saturday night, the raffle will be handing out more than $30,000 in gear from BFGoodrich, 4Wheel Parts, ARB, Raceline Wheels, Warn, and dozens of other vendors. The event takes place near Truckee, California, on August 6-9, 2020. Registration includes most meals, all trail rides, and all activities. For information go to: https://cal4wheel.com/sierra-trek
