ARB adds to their Touring Line
Awnings are everywhere homes and RV’s are found, so why not enjoy one on your next 4WD adventure? ARB has a new 2.5 x 2.5 metre awning whose anodized aluminum case mounts to your roof rack or via ARB’s brackets. The fabric is waterproof, providing you with protection from sun and rain. Add their Mesh Multi Mat for ground cover, or step up to the deluxe awning, which has a floor mat, walls for privacy and mesh sides to let the air in but keep those insects out.
MSRP: $305 USD (ARB Awning 2500) – www.arbusa.com

Bestop Roughrider Tailgate
Every Sci-Fi fan appreciates one of the most unique vehicles in fictional history – the Tardus of Doctor Who. For the uninitiated, the Tardus traveled through time and space, but the feature that really makes wheelers envious, is that it is bigger on the inside than on the outside.
Until 4WD’s develop this technology, all we can do is make the most efficient and accessible use of the space we have – enter the Bestop Roughrider Tailgate Shelf. It mount to the tailgate of Jeep JK & JKU’s years 2007-2017 in a couple minutes without any drilling. It folds down with one hand to create a shelf or storage bin. I like it because I can fill it with trail necessities without have to dig past them to get to the rest of my gear. It’s strong, sturdy and virtually disappears when not in use.

Rugged Ridge Soft Shackles
While I haven’t thrown out my locking D-ring yet, its days are numbered. The new Rugged Ridge soft shackles are light, strong, and faster to get on and off than the old D-ring (which now reminds me of a Sony Beta player – how old am I?) The Rugged Ridge soft shackles have a 7/16” diameter, a 30,000lb breaking strength, and a 7,500 lb WLL (working load limit). They are light enough to float (think dropping during a water recovery), can be wrapped around anything if there are no tow hooks, don’t rust, and are stored easily (wrap them around your roll bar). Used them last weekend to get a tug out of the snow.
MSRP: $93.00 USD for a pair – www.ruggedridge.com
