National Fishing Week July 1-9
Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation
Parents, youngsters and wanna-be anglers everywhere are invited to experience Canada’s amazing outdoors! With over 1 million lakes, rivers and streams plus three oceans, Canada can justly boast one of the most diverse natural environments on the planet. Fishing offers Canadians an opportunity to experience this vast landscape for themselves. Whether they’re seeking a little serenity, a getaway with family, or a heart-pounding adventure on the water, fishing offers it all.
And to get you motivated, you don’t even have to buy a fishing license if you fish on the two days at the start of the week and the two days at the end. So, to clarify that … a license is not required on July 1st, July 2nd, July 8th, July 9th (source ColumbiaValley.com)
What a great opportunity to take the family on a short fishing holiday weekend. So let’s celebrate National Fishing Week while we’re celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday! Grab your rod and reel, your tackle box and your lucky fishing hat, hang that “Gone fishin'” sign on your front door and get out there and get fishin’!
So get out there and Go Fishing!

National Fishing Week is supported by Catch Fishing, a national program dedicated to encouraging Canadians to get outdoors and enjoy our angling heritage throughout the year. It is supported by federal, provincial and territorial governments, as well as hundreds of organizations and businesses that work hard to ensure sustainable fishing opportunities while safeguarding fish populations everywhere. We appreciate your support to help keep this important program going and growing!
