Pink Salmon Festival
Pink Salmon Festival Society
The Greater Victoria Pink Salmon Festival Society takes over a hundred Capital Region District children fishing during the biennial Pink Salmon Run.
Skippers volunteer to spend the day introducing kids to sport fishing at its finest! Sponsored by generous individuals, and many area businesses, this community event is the dream of a group of people committed to sharing the fun of fishing with kids who do not normally have that opportunity.
Are you interested in volunteering as a skipper or for the picnic celebration that completes the day? Contact us via our “drop us a line” link.
Plans for 2017 Event
This year’s Pink Salmon Festival is scheduled for Sunday July 30, 2017. Find out how to pre-register for the festival through schools, summer programs, recreation centres and clubs. You can also send an email through out “drop us a line” link.
On the day of the festival, volunteer skippers take over 100 kids fishing for Pink Salmon. Boats leave from Pedder Bay Marina, Jock’s Dock and Sooke Harbour Marina for three hours of saltwater fishing and exploring our local waters. Afterwards kids join their families on land for a barbeque at Pedder Bay Resort & Marina to celebrate the day and their catch!
The Greater Victoria Pink Salmon Festival Society provides kids with fishing licenses, salmon stamps, personal flotation devices and much more hoping that they will be prepared to enjoy fishing on their own well after the event!
To ensure safety on the water, representatives of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary and Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada provide additional support during the event.
