VRC Charity Regatta for the Georgia Strait Alliance
Sailing to Protect Our Playground!
Join our Charity Regatta for the Georgia Strait Alliance on August 23rd!
On Saturday, August 23rd, local sailing crews and the Vancouver Rowing Club will host a 1 day Charity Regatta for the Georgia Strait Alliance, to raise money to protect our coastal waters. As sailors, cruisers and outdoor enthusiasts we want our Salish Sea to be healthy for generations to come. The GSA is a registered charity in BC and works with the boating community to protect and restore the marine environment and promote the sustainability of Georgia Strait.
REGATTA
The regatta will feature two PHRF divisions with multiple races on beautiful English Bay run by a fantastic race committee.
Schedule of Events
Saturday, August 23rd
0800 – Skippers Meeting at VRC (or Dial in By Conference Call)
1000 – Racing in English Bay and Georgia Strait
1800 – BBQ, Beer, Prizes & Party at VRC!
PRIZES
1. Cash Prize of $750 for 1st place in each division*
2. Cash Prize of $500 for 2nd place in each division*
3. Cash Prize of $250 for 3rd place in each division*
4. Trip to Whistler for 8 people for the weekend for the boat that raises the most $$$ !!!
5. Spirit Award for most fun team!
* In order to be eligible to win the cash prize your crew must fundraise $250. If you score Top 3 in a race and didn’t raise $250 – you still get to keep your bragging rights and trophy but the prize money gets donated to the GSA!
PARTY
The day full of racing will be followed by a wild dock party with live music, drinks and dancing after the races! Sponsors from all over our local community are contributing to make sure the event is a huge success. Lots of fun dock games and prizes to be won.

REGISTRATION
Registration is $65/boat includes dock party and live music after racing!
FUNDRAISING
We’ve made fundraising really easy!!! Once you register we will setup an online Team Fundraising Page for your crew so you can get started! It’s simple to use. Just find sponsors for your race! If your team fundraises $250 you’ll be eligible to win a cash prize if you score top 3 in your division or a trip for 8 to Whistler for the team that raises the most money!
