Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officially released its Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), requiring 15 billion gallons of ethanol to be mixed into the U.S. fuel supply for 2019. With this news and previous opposition to EPA’s proposal, NMMA promises to continue working with stakeholders to protect consumers from fuels with higher levels of ethanol.
The NMMA president, Thom Dammrich, states that consumers are an afterthought under the current RFS, are unaware of the dangers posed by high-ethanol fuel blends like E15 and urges the administration to protect the American consumer from misfuelling.
