Bayliner adds outboard options to two models

Bayliner said it added outboard power options to its VR5 and VR6 models.
“The addition of outboard power is a great offering for boaters in coastal markets, as well as those in seasonal markets looking to extend their boating season,” Bayliner president Keith Yunger said in a statement. “This adds even more utility to an already value-packed design.”
The space that normally houses the I/O’s engine will be converted to a dry storage locker, the company said. Other than that, the boats are identical to their sterndrive counterparts, employing Bayliner’s “BeamForward” design, which carries the full 8 feet of beam further forward in the boat than has been done traditionally. The company said this results in a roomier bow section.
In the cockpit, the boat features Bayliner’s new AftAdvantage design, which increases the rear seating area by carrying it back to the aft-most point of the running surface and letting the swim platform extend beyond that. This keeps the swim platform separate from the usable interior space rather than encroaching on it.
The VR5’s outboard options include Mercury Marine’s 115-hp 4-stroke outboard and 150-hp 4-stroke outboard, and the VR6 offers Mercury Marine’s 150-hp 4-stroke outboard and 200-hp 4-stroke Verado outboard.
Bayliner said the VR5 and VR6 were introduced in 2016. The VR5 was named outstanding runabout at the Miami International Boat Show and was given Boating Industry magazine’s top products award.
