Mustang Survival said its EP Ocean Racing Collection earned a Gold A’ Design Award from the A’ Design Award and Competition.
Introduced in 2016, the EP Ocean Racing Collection features specialized gear that includes personal flotation devices, outerwear and gear bags.
The A’ Design Award and Competition, the world’s largest, has awards for best designs, design concepts and products and services. It’s organized by OMC Design Studios in Como, Italy.
“Mustang Survival has been designing and producing innovative and premium products for marine environments for over 50 years,” Mustang Survival VP and general manager Jason Leggatt said in a statement. “This acknowledgement from respected peers and colleagues on the global stage honors the technical approach Mustang Survival brings to each product’s development.”
The EP 6.5 Ocean Racing outerwear category features military-grade Gore-Tex that for 20 years has only been available to the military, Coast Guard and first responders. Mustang said the launch of the EP 6.5 Ocean Racing outerwear brings the proven technology to the consumer market for the first time.
Military-grade Gore-Tex offers a heavier denier for extended use and makes the fabric resistant to corrosive agents, such as fuel and saltwater, the company said.
Mustang said it worked with offshore sailing crews of the Comanche and Rambler 88, receiving valuable real-time feedback for the development of the collection.
“With a dedicated and talented team of in-house designers, Mustang Survival is able to create products that meet and exceed the most demanding user’s expectations,” Leggatt said.
The company said the collection allows for a seamless integration of Mustang’s thermal layers and outerwear with its flotation and protective equipment, providing a comprehensive range of solutions for offshore sailing racers and enthusiasts.
