Garmin International today debuted the Panoptix PS22-TR, its newest Panoptix transducer with LiveVü Forward and LiveVü Down that offers a narrow 20-degree beam angle for improved resolution.
Paired with a compatible Garmin GPSMAP or echoMAP CHIRP chart plotter, Panoptix delivers a new perspective to fishing that lets anglers watch the movement of fish and the reactions to their bait as much as 100 feet away, the company said.
Designed for trolling motor installation, the PS22-TR is the latest addition to the Panoptix product line, which now includes seven models with varying installation options for inland and offshore application.
“Garmin’s Panoptix all-seeing sonar technology continues to change the way people fish,” Garmin vice president of global consumer sales Dan Bartel said in a statement. “It’s the only sonar of its kind that gives anglers the ability to see all around their boat in real time, and we’re excited to expand this unique capability to even more inland and near-shore fishermen with the introduction of the PS22-TR that provides two LiveVü modes in one transducer.”
With a Panoptix PS22-TR on board, fishermen can see real-time sonar imagery at video-like speed using the view of their choice — forward or down. Providing both views is designed to let anglers tailor the PS22-PR to fit the way they fish, the company said.
The Garmin Panoptix PS22-TR LiveVü Forward and LiveVü Down trolling motor transducer is expected to be available during the third quarter for $999.99.
Mounting hardware is included to install the PS22-TR on the shaft or barrel of a trolling motor. It’s compatible with select echoMAP CHIRP 7- and 9-inch models, as well as the GPSMAP 8400/8600, GPSMAP 7400/7600 and the GPSMAP 7×2, 9×2, 10×2 and 12×2 series chart plotters.
