August 5 & 6, 2017 in the waters between Victoria & West Sooke
Fishing times:
- Saturday – dawn to 7 pm
- Sunday – dawn to 1 pm
SATURDAY, AUGUST 5
- Competition starts at dawn. Weigh-In Station opens shortly thereafter
- Competition and Weigh-In Station close at 7:00 p.m.
- Note: No evening fishing. Entries must be caught during derby hours.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6
- Competition starts at dawn. Weigh-In Station opens shortly thereafter
- Competition and Weigh-In Station close at 1:00 p.m. Those not in line at the Weigh-In Station at 1:00 p.m. are no longer eligible for entry
- Winners are declared after all entries are recorded.
Weigh-in station is in Sooke at the corner of Sooke & Phillips Roads (across from the lighthouse). Allow yourself time to drive to the Weigh-In Station before the deadline.

AWARDS DINNER
Sooke Flats on Phillips Road, Sunday at 2:00 p.m.The delicious steak dinner cooked up and served for your dining pleasure by the Sooke Lions is included for participants. Friends and family are welcome to purchase dinner tickets from the Lions on-site at the cook station
Rules & Regulations
1. All entrants must hold a valid Tidal Waters fishing licence or Status Card. DFO regulations shall take precedence in all cases. Your valid Licence and Derby Ticket must be shown at the time of weigh-in. No Chinook entries under 15 pounds.
2. One rod per ticket. Other people may be in the boat to steer, assist in landing fish, etc, but they are not permitted to fish.
3. One entry fish per day (heaviest entry) per ticket. Heaviest fish will bump previous entry on the same ticket. Example: A 20-pound fish caught on Saturday would be bumped by a larger fish taken on Sunday by the same angler on the same ticket.
4. The same entry may not win multiple prizes. Prize category must be declared at weigh-in and cannot be changed. Example: The same fish cannot win the Heaviest Fish Prize, Ladies’ Prize, and Largest Hatchery Fish Prize.
5. Weigh-in times are: Saturday - Dawn to 7:00 p.m.; Sunday - Dawn to 1:00 p.m.
6. Allow yourself time to drive to the Weigh-In Station before the deadline.
7. All prizes are awarded at the Awards Dinner. Winners or proxies should be present to accept fish prizes and draw prizes. Winners not present will receive one phone call. If the winner does not claim the prize within two(2) weeks, the prize shall remain the property of the Sooke Salmon Enhancement Society.
8. By purchasing a ticket, entrants agree that their photo may be taken and used for promotional purposes or forwarded to media organizations for possible publication. Parents or guardians of participants under the age of 18 must contact a director of the Society should they not want pictures of children taken or published.
9. Any participant who conducts themselves in an unruly manner that interferes with the enjoyment of others at the event will be ineligible for any prize and will be escorted off the grounds. Any ticket(s) purchased by them will be refunded at the discretion of the SSES.
Come & join us for a weekend of fun in support of the Jack Brooks Hatchery. All proceeds go towards the hatchery to help cover operational costs.
