Friday morning participants and vendors awoke to smell of breakfast cooking. The Coalmont Invasion was about to launch. Like many invasions, it was a success, but not without some snafu’s.
All types of 4x4’s were welcomed to the event, and they organized themselves after breakfast to head out for a day on the trails led by After The Blacktop Ends (ATBE) trail guides. People from as far away as Toronto, Ontario enjoyed the spectacular trails and scenery.
They say an army marches on its stomach, and so do wheelers. Friday night everyone enjoyed a BBQ and waited for the party to begin. The bands were almost set-up when the rain arrived - and the bands left.
It was assumed that Friday night was a bust although the shower was short lived. To our surprise, Myles Murphy came back after realizing that the rain had stopped; and although the others didn’t return, Myles Murphy put on quite a show for everyone.
The event featured a Winch 101 course, Advanced Recovery 4x4 hosted by Ken Noakes & Carrie Wood, with the assistance of Kliff Wight & Jeff Courtney - just to name a few.
Through the weekend everyone had a great time on the trails and enjoyed a trade show with vendors like Warn Industries, Tulameen Adventures, 4 Wheel Drive Association of BC, All Terrain Overland Gear, Okanagan at Heights, Boulder Outdoor Products, and The Tin Whistle. A special thanks to our sponsors including Innovative events & Promotions, Coffee News, Technical Designs, WheelSpacers.ca, ThermoKing, 4Wheel Parts, and our favorite magazine 4WDrive.
AWARE 4x4 society and ATBE event organizers are hard at work to make the Coalmont 4x4 Invasion Jamboree 2019 even better. Mark July 4-8, 2019 on your calendars! Details will be posted on wwwaftertheblacktopends.com soon. We look forward to seeing you next year!
