Remove the 11 mm nuts from mounting studs at the ends of the 50” light bar and carefully set the bar in position on the A-pillar brackets. We added stainless steel washers on to the mounting studs and reinstalled the 11 mm nuts we removed earlier. Tighten down the nuts enough to hold the bar in position. Step back and make sure everything is sitting level, tighten the bolts that secure the A-pillar brackets to the windshield hinge.

We then roughly laid out the wiring harness. Jeep JK’s have firewall pass-through points in the lower A-pillars below where the cowl corners meet the tub. We ran the light side of the harness through the passenger’s side; to accomplish this we had to disassemble the weather pack connector because it was too large to pass through the factory holes. Reassemble the connector once it is inside the passenger compartment. We then ran the wiring for the on/off switch through the firewall pass-through on the driver’s side.

The next step was choosing a location to mount the switch. We found a good position above the speaker in the dash. We drilled a ¾-inch hole through the plastic, connected the wiring to the switch and popped the switch in place.

The last piece to the puzzle is to connect the power and ground wires to the battery. Flick the switch on and adjust the light bar into its final position and tighten the mounting bolts.

I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can see…. You too are going to need some sunglasses if you want to look at the Rigid Industries 50-inch E-series LED light bar. We have wheeled our Jeep JK extensively through Ontario over the last year and we’ve have had a blast. But we also found that the night runs were leaving us a little on the dark side, so to speak. Enter Rigid’s 50-inch E-Series double row, spot flood combo light #150312 and Rigid’s Jeep JK brow mount kit #40131. Follow along as we tackle this install with nothing more than basic hand tools.
Blinded by the light, where are my sunglasses? This light bar will provide all the light we require for the trails. The shear amount of lumens that radiate from the front of the JK makes the headlights seem like candles. It really does turn nighttime into daytime.
